This is the 10th anniversary of my Gazelle track, originally released in 2015 on my debut EP, Wolf BBQ. To celebrate, I sought out the help of my Casio sister, The Space Lady, to join me on this new version.
“I felt honored to participate in this extraordinary musical creation,” explains The Space Lady. “I love how [Glockabelle] used the two rhyming words “gazelle” and “rebel” — one depicting fleetness, and the other non-conformance. It goes without saying, the closer we are pushed toward tyranny the more we will need to embody both qualities. To paraphrase Dylan Thomas: We must not go gentle into that Dark Night!”
The Space Lady has been a true inspiration to me. We connected about 9 years ago when I first heard her Greatest Hits and played them for my baby cockatiel. I sent her a note to tell her we were fans, and not long after, I opened for her in New York. It seemed like it was just a matter of time until we met… as if the Casio gods had planned it way in advance. So when I decided to re-record my Gazelle song, she was first on my list. I mailed her a green screen and a pair of lightup cowboy boots, identical to mine (we are the same shoe size) and asked her to be my special guest.
I am in awe of how dedicated she is to her art, her fans and touring. Thank you to The Space Lady for sharing your cosmic light with me π«
This track features my two Casio VL-Tones, a Yamaha MR-10 drum machine as well as the Aelita aka “Queen of the Soviet Synthesizers” and the Formanta Polivoks. It was recorded at Figure 8 Studios by Eli Crew. Mixed and mastered by Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets.
